I really struggled with this one but as I saw that there are skydivers I immediately thought of fear but also of freedom and freedom for me is expressing individuality. In the clip we saw that the movie created something like little explosions and this explosions are obstacles for me. I made a collage about my obstacles in life and also kind of a reason why I want to become a teacher. The center is a picture that one of my students gave to me. The task was to draw something about loving each other and he gave this to me and said that the world does not give enough love and I mean it is kind of hard seeing an 11- year- old child drawing the world without colors. It kind of reminded me of the clip because it was also black and white, and it shows a child’s fear like the fear of the skydivers. As I said I would like to show one of my obstacles and a big obstacle was school life for me maybe one of you know the magic “Lektüreschlüssel” that was the key to a good grade, and it is kind of sad saying what the teacher wants to hear and not what you really think about a book. I put some wax and coffee on the pages because the Abitur in my memory is the worst time because back then migraine hit me so hard because of all the stress and also the long sleepless nights. Another point in my collage are pages from a book that tells us teachers about how to grade a student and how to interact with children and from my experience so far that book would not help me at all I mean I work at a school and I think that a teacher needs a certain kind of character and an open mind to understand our students needs and not reading it from a book . In my point of view grading is a kind of stealing students’ individuality and these little explosions in the clip represent this kind of lack of individuality. On the bottom of the collage, I have a few pages of the book “The little prince” where it says that he says that he learns to understand adults and their unnormal point of view. Big people tell him to concentrate on geography and history all kinds of boring things. The last part in my collage is the Arabic handwriting, which tells us “freedom”. The reason why I wrote freedom on all the papers is because there is no freedom. With my collage I wanted to make it clear again how important it is to let our students live and embody their own self in order to be able to lead a happy life in the end.
